The Blue Hen Bass Anglers held Classic XXVIII on Lake Raystown from October 14-15, 2016.
The club was facing a tough bite as many were left scratching their head after an unproductive pre-fishing session.
one of the tournament didn't go much better as the bite was limited
with less than impressive catches coming to the Scales. Nate Taylor
held the day one lead with2 fish followed by the rest of the field with
sparse catches and even a few zeros. However, The fun and fellowship
was amazing. As always, the campfire, food, and traditional Blue Hen
Cup Championship Drink instilled memories to last a life time.
additionally a "Facebook Live" session and a stirring rendition of "Row,
Row your boat" highlighted a great evening with great people.
had to give going into day 2 but it seemed that no one really had a
solid plan. A thick fog greeted the club for the day two take off.
Anglers set off with an abundance of caution restricting many from
running as far as they would like. The fog remained until 10 am before
finally giving way to some sunny skies.
Anglers fished hard but the bite remained tough. Despite best efforts hurling "whopper ploppers", "Ned Rigs", "Swim Baits", "drop shots"' and whatever else could be dug out of the box, It would not be numbers that would determine this one but the one big bite would rule the day.
Joe Spinelli found a big bite landing a beautiful large mouth weighing over 5.62 pounds. This combined with another keeper would bring his two day total to 8.14 lbs and enough to take home the Classic win. Congratulations Joe!
Mark Robinson made a run to some skinny water where he was able to find some fish but fell just short of the victory with 4 fish at 8.04 lbs.
Also finding a few fish to make a run at the win to round out the top 3 was Nate Taylor. Nate ended up with a two day total of 4 fish at 7.06 lbs.
