The Blue Hen Bass Anglers held their 4th tournament of the year on July 15th on the Northeast River. The Club had 10 anglers blasting off at safe light from from Anchor Marine. As usual at this venue, the club had a lot of company as several other organizations were holding tournaments there as well.
Many anglers anticipated a slugfest as the upper bay has been known to provide heavy bags of fish for anglers that have found a producing pattern. This tournament was a key event for those looking to solidify there opportunity to fish in the Blue Hen Cup Championship. Most of the leaders did just that and a few on the fringe made their move.
Nate Taylor secured the win with his 5 fish limit for 13.36 lbs. The victory also moved him into second place overall and within striking distance of the Angler of the Year title. This was just what Taylor needed to setup for a strong finish to a very competitive season.
Following Nate in 2nd place was Gary Snyder with 5 fish for 9.72 lbs. Gary has been no stranger to the leaderboard this year and was able to capitalize on a morning topwater bite to remain at the top of the Angler of the year standings.
Coming in 3rd and making his move for Blue Hen Cup contention was club president Glenn Tuckmantel. Tuck anchored his 9.62 lb 5 fish bag with the lunker of the day. His big fish went 3.72 lbs.
Overall there were 25 fish weighed in for 50.62 lbs.
