Mark Robinson takes home the Cup for the second time!
The wait is over.. The smoke has cleared.. and a champion has been crowned,... Again!! Mark Robinson has become the first two time winner of the Prestigious Blue Hen Cup.
The Blue Hen Cup featured the Clubs top 5 Anglers battling it out on the North East River Sunday October 1st. Four of the five anglers,(including Robinson) had previously qualified to fish the event based on their position in the final standings of the regular 2017 season. Rounding out the 5 was last years defending champion James Mort.
The weather cooperated as the 5 man field set off at first light to execute their game plans. The fish were cooperating as well. 4 of the 5 anglers managed to get their limits. However, the limits were small and lacking that elusive "kicker fish" that no one was able to bag.
In the end, Robinson narrowly out dueled a focused Glenn Tuckmantel by .64 of a pound to secure the win. Mark becomes the first angler to win the Championship Cup two times. Congratulations Mark! Well deserved!
The final tally was as follows: Mark Robinson - 5 fish for 9.44 lbs Glenn Tuckmantel - 5 fish for 8.80 lbs Gary Snyder - 5 fish for 7.70 lbs Nate Taylor - 5 fish for 7.42 lbs James Mort - 1 fish for 1.60 lbs
Congratulations to all anglers for qualifying for the competition and for a great season! Next up is the season finale. The Blue Hen Classic. The two day event will be held on the Pocomoke River with plenty of fellowship and great times!
